An Alarming rise of HIV/AIDS positive cases has been registered at Biiso health center IV in Biiso town council Buliisa District worry health experts.
Speaking to a Biiso FM reporter, Happy Tadeo a health expert in the art clinic department asserts that, the number of HIV patients registered at the facility within a period of three month exceeds the normal number expected.
Tadeo discloses that in July, August and September 2023, over sixty patients were registered beyond the expected maximum range of twenty-seven patients in three months.
HIV is spread through contact with blood or sexual fluids (like semen and vaginal fluids), usually during vaginal and anal sex. So, the only 100% certain way to avoid HIV is to not have vaginal or anal sex.
He therefore asked the public to prevent the infection by using condoms, partners being faithful to each other and the use of post and pre-exposure prophylaxis. (PrEP and PEP)
The health expert advised expectant mothers to always visit health facilities for antenatal care services to enable them to know their health status including their babies.
