Buliisa

Residents of Buliisa District working both within and outside the area have been urged to reinvest their monthly earnings back home to spur local development.

This call was made today by Hon. Stephen Birahwa Mukitale, the former Buliisa County Member of Parliament and current board member of the National Physical Planning Authority.

He addressed residents during preparations for the launch of the Biiso War Memorial Business Park, scheduled for December 26th to 31st, 2025, alongside a week-long exhibition.

Mukitale expressed concern that many Buliisa-born professionals—especially those employed in the oil and gas sector—invest heavily in other districts and on other luxary items while neglecting development in their own communities.

He urged them to channel their salaries into productive ventures that will uplift themselves and Buliisa at large.

The park will also accommodate, livestock auction and fish markets, workshops, washing bays, garages, produce stores, grain milling units, timber milling machines, carpentry and joinery facilities, as well as concrete and building materials businesses.

The development comprises 12 buildings blocks, each containing 20 specialized shops, including hardware outlets, medical services, stationery, produce stores, ICT labs, fashion boutiques, salons, cosmetics parlors, agro-vet shops, electrical stores, and professional offices for consultants such as engineers, architects and lawyers.

Mukitale emphasized that the initiative aims to spur community development and uphold the legacy of his late father, Mukitale.
