Kikuube District, LC5 Chairperson Aspirant Samuel Muganzi has withdrawn from the race.
Muganzi, who was contesting as an independent after losing the NRM primaries, submitted his withdrawal notice to the Kikuube District Elections Office.
His exit leaves only two contenders: NRM flag bearer Peter Banura and a NUP candidate.
Muganzi told reporters he stepped aside for the good of the NRM and pledged full support to Banura.
He said he is responding to a call by President Yoweri Museveni urging independents who lost primaries to back official party flag bearers.
