Police in Katakwi have arrested five suspects in connection with the death of 27-year-old deejay Patrick Elungat, whose body was found on November 23rd inside a water-filled pit in Angopet Cell, Katakwi Town Council.
Those arrested include Emmanuel Omongin, also known as Vet, a resident of Angopet Cell; Stephen Obungan, a boda boda rider from Stage B; Betty Oboliale; a Karamojong woman identified only as Kavin; and two stage conductors, Ijado and Okiror.
Police say early investigations point to a fight over a girl as the motive behind the killing. The girl at the centre of the dispute has also been arrested, though her identity is being withheld as inquiries continue.
East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, SP Ibrahim Saiga, confirmed the arrests and said a search is underway for additional suspects still on the run.
