The minister of lands, housing, and urban development, Judith Nabakooba, will hand over freehold land titles to the residents of Kagadi district this month.
According to the minister, there are rampant cases of land grabbing in the district, which has necessitated the need for the issuance of land titles for the residents to protect them from evictions.
According to the letter dated April 28, 2023, addressed to the chairperson of the Uganda Land Commission, after the handover of the land titles to the beneficiaries on May 19th, Minister Nabakooba will travel on May 20th to Ndaiga, Kyaterekera, and Mpeefu for boundary opening and compassionate valuation of the disputed area.
She will be accompanied by a team of surveyors and valuers from the ministry who will lead the survey of the disputed land.
Minister Nabakooba says the exercise intends to conclude the long-standing land disputes in Kagadi district.
