Members attached to Community Based Organizations CBO in Buliisa District have appealed to Buliisa District local government through the ministry of health to prioritize the construction of a Mortuary at Biiso health center IV in Biiso town council Buliisa District for the storage of the dead bodies.

Jonan Ukura a CBO practitioner disclosed this recently to the floor of the district council during the district budget conference after realizing that the issue of Mortuary was not discussed.

When contacted Biiso health center IV in-charge Dr. Peter Otim, says lack of Mortuary and an Ambulance are key challenges at the facility which needs to be addressed.

Dr. Mugabe Robert, the District Health Educator (DHE) Buliisa acknowledged that currently Buliisa Health Centre IV and Biiso Health Centre IV don’t have mortuaries, but the district has one operational mortuary at Buliisa General Hospital.

Mugabe disclosed that, they first prioritized the construction of staff quarters in some of the health centres to improve on service delivery noting that some health workers were residing outside the health facility premises, reporting late for work thus affecting service delivery.

He however clarified that the construction of mortuaries in these health facilities is in their five-year plan but currently police convey the corpses to Buliisa general hospital.
