Buliisa

Residents of Sitin B village Biiso sub-county Buliisa district have expressed concern over continued strikes of STC company workers due to non-payment of salaries.

Information privy to our sources allege that laborers attached to STC, a company contracted to construct Biiso- Masindi Road, have gone for three months without being paid.

Anatole Babyesiza one of the residents said that community members are uncomfortable with the strikes, since it’s becoming a security threat.

According to Babyesiza, STC draws some workers from far parts of the country wondering how these workers can afford a living without pay for three months.

He further expressed fear that some of workers may resort to stealing peoples’ items and pose danger to the lives of community.

He adds that residents are also irked by their routine closure of roads whenever they are striking which affects peoples’ usual business.
