Buliisa, Uganda — The Member of Parliament for Buliisa Constituency and National Resistance Movement (NRM) District Chairperson, Hon. Allan Atugonza, has urged residents to turn up in large numbers and vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections, citing the President’s remarkable achievements and ongoing commitment to transforming Uganda.

Speaking to our reporter after a community engement in Biiso Town Council, Hon. Atugonza praised President Museveni for steering Uganda toward peace, stability, and development over the past decades. He emphasized that the NRM government has laid a strong foundation for economic growth, improved social services, and expanded infrastructure—transforming lives across the country.

“President Museveni has been the pillar of Uganda’s progress. Under his leadership, we have witnessed peace and stability return to every corner of this country, new roads have been constructed, electricity has reached rural communities, and social programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) are empowering households,” said Hon. Atugonza.

Key Achievements Under President Museveni’s Leadership

Hon. Atugonza outlined several tangible achievements credited to President Museveni and the NRM government, including:

  • Infrastructure Development: The tarmacking of major highways such as the Hoima–Biiso–Buliisa road has boosted connectivity and trade in the oil-rich Albertine region.
  • Oil and Gas Progress: The President’s leadership has guided Uganda’s oil sector from exploration to the development phase, creating opportunities for local employment and investment.
  • Education and Health: Universal Primary and Secondary Education (UPE and USE) have opened doors for millions of children, while the government continues to upgrade health facilities, including Buliisa Health Centre IV.
  • Economic Empowerment: Programs like Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM) have supported local entrepreneurs and improved household incomes.
  • Security and Stability: Uganda remains one of the most peaceful countries in the region, a cornerstone of national progress and foreign investment.

“The NRM has always been a people-centered government. We have seen progress in agriculture, industrialization, and job creation. This is a foundation we must protect and build upon by re-electing President Museveni,” Hon. Atugonza added.

Museveni’s Vision for the Next Term

President Museveni, who is seeking re-election under the NRM banner, has pledged to consolidate socio-economic transformation by focusing on:

  • Industrialization and Job Creation through agro-processing and value addition.
  • Expanding Access to Electricity and Clean Water to reach every parish by 2030.
  • Enhancing the Parish Development Model to ensure that every Ugandan household is part of the money economy.
  • Improving Education Quality with emphasis on skills training and digital literacy.
  • Promoting Oil Revenue Transparency and Local Participation to ensure Ugandans directly benefit from the country’s natural resources.

Hon. Atugonza called upon all NRM supporters and the people of Buliisa to stand firm with President Museveni as a tested leader with a proven track record of delivery and vision.

“Our President has never abandoned his people. He listens, he delivers, and he has built a Uganda that works for everyone. Let us reward his commitment by voting for him massively in the next elections,” Hon. Atugonza concluded.

About NRM in Buliisa

Buliisa District, a key player in Uganda’s oil and gas development corridor, has been a stronghold for the NRM, benefiting from major government investments in infrastructure, education, and community livelihood programs. The district leadership under Hon. Atugonza continues to mobilize communities to embrace government programs and maintain peace and unity.

As the 2026 general elections draw closer, NRM leaders in Buliisa have vowed to intensify grassroots mobilization to ensure a resounding victory for President Museveni and all NRM flag bearers.
