
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released the official timetable for the 2025 national exams, covering PLE, UCE, and UACE.
According to the schedule released Monday, the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) will start on October 13, followed by the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) on November 3, and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) on November 10. Mandatory candidate briefings will take place on October 10 for UCE, October 31 for PLE, and November 7 for UACE.

UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo revealed that a total of 1,416,468 candidates have been registered this year an increase of 7.5% from 2024. Of these, 51.5% are female and 48.5% are male.
By level, candidature rose to 818,010 for PLE, 432,025 for UCE, and 166,433 for UACE—the highest percentage increase at 14.7%. Special Needs Education candidates also grew to 4,802, up from 4,587 last year.
In terms of funding, 719,016 candidates (51%) are under government’s Universal Education programs, while 697,452 (49%) are privately sponsored.
