The police in Buhweju district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 68-year-old woman who was cut to death and her body left in a pool of blood in a prone position.
The incident happened on Thursday 28th September 2023 at unknown time and the deceased is Katayomba Faridah a resident of Ekikoni village, Rugongo parish, Karungu sub – county in Buhweju district.
The suspect is Kakuru Innocent, a biological son to the deceased who was arrested by police alongside one Kakuru Innocent to assist in investigations.
It is alleged on 28th September 2023 at around 8pm, Mugasha Moses, another son to the deceased, went to check on his mother (now the deceased) from her house as she was sickly and found the door open. Mugasha entered the bedroom and found her mother had been cut to death and body lying in a pool of blood.
He reported the matter to the locals plus the area chairman Beyunga Everest with whom they later reported the matter to police.
Inquiries commenced vide Buhweju CRB 414/2023, scene was visited by the District CID officer, Soco and other detectives who recorded statements from relevant witnesses. Police retrieved the body that had deep cut wounds on the head to Nsika Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem examination.
It was established that the suspect had some land wrangle with the mother (now the deceased) and in a suspicious way, he had spent two nights at the deceased’s house before the incident after which he was nowhere to be seen until when he was traced and arrested by police.
SSP Martial Tumusiime the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesman confirmed the incident to this publication stressing that inquiries into the matter are still at hand.
