Police in Hoima are investigating circumstances under which a 3-year-old juvenile was knocked dead by a hit and run motor vehicle on Thursday evening.
ASP Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson has identified the deceased as Aisha Tuhaise, 3 years old.
According to Hakiza, Tuhaise was knocked dead by the hit and run motor vehicle registration number UBA 828D along Kaiso – Hoima road at a place called Buterenga.
‘’The juvenile was crossing the road, the speeding vehicle knocked it over and died on the spot,’’ he added.
The police mouthpiece told our reporter that the vehicle was recovered a mile from where the incident happened and it’s impounded at Hoima Division Headquarters.
‘’Investigations and the hunt for the driver have commenced,’’ he said.
Hakiza said most accidents in the region are caused due to reckless driving, over speeding and others. He asked drivers to be conscious when driving or riding.
