Buliisa rural development organisations (BURUDO) in conjunction with Total Energies EP Uganda and Uganda wildlife authority (UWA) yesterday held a stake holders meeting with local leaders about livestock and wildlife human conflict
The meeting which was held at the Buliisa district headquarters, attracted LC1 and 2 chairpersons from sub counties neighboring the national park.
According to the executive director of BURUDO Mr Pauliel Onenechan, the engagement was aimed at strengthening relationship between UWA and the local community members to embrace community protection against wildlife invasion into the community.
Onenchan also revealed that, the local leaders also received update concerning the construction of electric fence which is being done by Total and UWA
During the meeting, Mr. Wilson Kagoro, the Uganda Wildlife Authority Community Conservation Officer applauded Total energies for financially partnering with the in the construction of the electric fence

He said that the clearing of the bushes around the game reserve is ongoing and supervised by UWA.
Kagoro added that he is optimistic that Elephants which have been evading the community eating and destroying their crops would stop.
