Business owners in Kibengeya and Siiba trading centers, Kapapi Sub-County, Hoima District, are reporting heavy losses after a three-week electricity blackout. Among the most affected are maize millers, salon operators, video and sports halls, computer libraries, graphic shops, and soft drink vendors.
Local traders, Gerald Kugonza, known as “Makali,” and Wandera Balikenda, also known as “Kenda,” said their businesses have been crippled despite paying their electricity bills in full.

Attempts to get a comment from UEDCL’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jonan Kiiza, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to phone calls.
The blackout has left business owners struggling to operate, highlighting the urgent need for swift action to restore electricity and prevent further losses.
