Kampala, Uganda – Former Uganda Media Centre Executive Director, Ofwono Opondo, has been declared the NRM party flag bearer for the Older Persons Parliamentary seat in Eastern Uganda.
Opondo secured victory at the NRM special interest group elections held at Kololo Independence Grounds on Monday, polling 168 votes against State Minister for Older Persons Dominic Mafabi Gidudu, who garnered 122.
NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, officially announced Opondo as winner, saying he had polled the highest number of votes in the hotly contested race.
