The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially unveiled the campaign portrait of its presidential flag bearer, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, as preparations intensify for the 2026 General Elections.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala, led by the party’s First National Vice Chairperson, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, together with Secretary-General Richard Todwong.
Addressing the media shortly after the unveiling, Todwong said the 2026 campaigns will run under the theme: “Protecting Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.” He explained that the message is rooted in the NRM’s development agenda and aligns with President Museveni’s Vision 2040 roadmap.
“As NRM, we officially present to Ugandans the portrait of our presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections,” Todwong declared.
The event coincided with an ongoing National Conference harmonization meeting bringing together party leaders, district chairpersons, and coordinators from across the country. Among the notable figures in attendance were Emmanuel Dombo, the Director for Communication and Public Relations; Hadijah Namyalo, National Coordinator in the Office of the NRM Chairman; Sheema Municipality MP Dicksons Kateshumbwa; and Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the NRM Director for Mobilization.
The gathering also provided a platform for discussions on mobilization strategies, coordination of the forthcoming National Conference, and early preparations for the campaign trail.
President Museveni, who is also the NRM National Chairman, has been formally endorsed as the party’s flag bearer for the 2026 elections. His candidacy extends his decades-long leadership, with the NRM emphasizing continuity, stability, and progress under its long-term development vision.
