Buliisa
Final games under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association in Buliisa today have been postponed following complaints of unfair officiating during the girls’ semi-final match.
The disputed match was between Butiaba Seed Secondary School and Mukitale Development Foundation Secondary School.
The game ended in a penalty shootout, where Mukitale scored three out of five penalties, while Butiaba Seed scored two out of four attempts taken.
According to the team captain and other players from Butiaba Seed and other spectators allege that the referee ended the penalty shootout prematurely, denying their fifth player a chance to take the final penalty, and instead declared Mukitale ss the winner.
The District Sports Officer and Acting Inspector of Schools, Godfrey Muhumuza, has confirmed the incident and acknowledged concerns over the referee’s decision.
