KAMPALA — First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports Janet Museveni released the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations results Friday during a ceremony at State House Nakasero.
The release follows a Wednesday briefing where the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) presented the official performance report to the ministry. This year’s release comes one week later than the 2024 results, which were made public on Jan. 23.
Data from UNEB shows a total of 818,010 candidates registered for the 2025 exams, a 2.5 percent increase from the 797,444 learners who registered in 2024. The candidates were hosted at 16,140 examination centers.
The 2025 candidate pool included 428,398 girls and 389,589 boys. A total of 522,039 candidates, or 64 percent, were funded through the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program, while 295,846 learners were privately sponsored.
The results also featured 61 inmates from Upper Prison School Luzira, including seven women and 54 men.
According to the official education calendar, Senior One students are scheduled to report for their first term on Feb. 16.
This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
