Residents of Buliisa District have been urged to actively demand service delivery and seek information about government programmes from their leaders.
The call was made by the Buliisa District Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Lt. Col. Ben Kisembo, while addressing members of God’s Gift Savings Group in Busingiro Village, Busingiro Parish, Biiso Sub-county.
Lt. Col. Kisembo noted that many Ugandans, especially in rural areas, remain unaware of government programmes and how they operate, a situation he said continues to fuel poverty in many communities. He encouraged residents to take the initiative to ask leaders for information and fully utilize available government interventions.
He emphasized that wealth creation starts with small projects that can gradually grow into bigger ventures. As an example, he explained that a single chicken can generate up to two hundred thousand shillings after producing twenty chicks, each sold at ten thousand shillings within four weeks. Lt. Col. Kisembo later donated four hundred thousand shillings to support the savings group.
In his remarks, Major Robert Bamuroho urged residents to take advantage of the prevailing peace and stability in the country to improve their household incomes. He said that unlike in previous regimes, business people no longer worry about protecting their wealth due to improved security.
Major Bamuroho also encouraged residents to exercise their civic rights by turning up in large numbers to vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for Thursday, 15th January 2026, assuring them of full security from the UPDF and other security agencies.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of the SACCO thanked Lt. Col. Kisembo for honouring the group’s invitation and pledged their support to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whom she described as a visionary leader capable of taking Uganda to another level.
