BULIISA DISTRICT – In a strong demonstration of party cohesion, former Buliisa Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Beatrice Mpairwe has officially thrown her support behind the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers in the district, marking one of the most significant reconciliatory gestures in the area’s recent political history.
Hon. Mpairwe, who previously contested against incumbent Woman MP Hon. Norah Bigirwa, joined district leaders, supporters, and mobilisers during a weekend engagement where she reaffirmed her commitment to working for unity within the ruling party. The former legislator, now serving as an NRM Coordinator in Buliisa, publicly endorsed Hon. Bigirwa, Buliisa County MP Hon. Allan Atugonza, and all NRM flag bearers ahead of the forthcoming campaigns.
Addressing hundreds of supporters, Hon. Mpairwe emphasized that the party’s strength lies in teamwork, disciplined mobilisation, and loyalty to shared values.
“For the Movement to thrive, we must stand together. When leaders unite, the people follow—and when the people unite, Buliisa moves forward,” she told the gathering.
Her remarks drew applause from local leaders, many of whom described the moment as a turning point for the district’s political landscape. The two former rivals, Hon. Mpairwe and Hon. Bigirwa, were seen interacting warmly—symbolizing renewed cooperation and a shared commitment to strengthening the NRM structures at the grassroots.
NRM officials in Buliisa say Hon. Mpairwe’s involvement brings renewed energy and credibility to local mobilisation efforts. With her deep ties across the district and experience in regional politics, she is expected to play a key role in coordinating village-level networks, reconciling factions, and aligning supporters behind the party’s agenda.
District NRM leaders noted that the unified front is critical as the party intensifies preparations for voter outreach, coordination of special-interest groups, and consolidation of support across Buliisa’s sub-counties.
Political observers say the reconciliation between Hon. Mpairwe and Hon. Bigirwa highlights one of the NRM’s enduring strengths: its ability to manage internal competition and emerge stronger through consensus-building. The cooperation is seen as a practical demonstration of internal democratic maturity within the party’s local structures.
Community members who attended the event expressed optimism that the renewed teamwork among leaders would translate into improved service delivery, more effective monitoring of government programs, and stronger representation of Buliisa’s interests at the national level.
As mobilisation activities continue, district leaders reiterated their commitment to working collectively toward development priorities—ranging from infrastructure expansion and education to wealth creation programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
The unity message echoed throughout the event captured a broader theme gaining momentum within the district:
“Unity in diversity strengthens the Movement,” one youth mobiliser commented. “When our leaders work together, everyone in Buliisa benefits.”
The renewed collaboration among NRM figures in Buliisa signals a new chapter—one defined by cooperation, shared purpose, and a consolidated effort to advance the district’s development path under the party’s guidance.
