Abidjan, Ivory Coast – On October 23, presidential candidate Henriette Lagou held her final campaign rally in Yopougon, one of Abidjan’s most vibrant and populous districts, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic supporters.
Lagou’s followers voiced strong confidence in her leadership, praising her as a candidate who understands the struggles of disadvantaged families, widows, and unemployed youth.
Supporter Suzanne Gnohoulou said many in the community believe Lagou can bring change.
“We want her to lead the country because she understands our hardships,” she said. “Our children have degrees but no jobs. We survive on small businesses. If she becomes president, we believe she can help us.”
Focusing on grassroots mobilization in working-class neighborhoods, Lagou’s campaign has gained momentum in the final days before Ivorians head to the polls.
Another supporter, Youssouph Diomandé, described Lagou as “a woman of value,” adding:
“She’s a person of integrity and humility. She doesn’t seek attention, and I admire her intellect.”
As the president of the GP-Paix party, Henriette Lagou closed her campaign in Yopougon with a message of hope and reconciliation, urging Ivorians to unite for a peaceful and prosperous future.
A former minister in Laurent Gbagbo’s government, Lagou is now aiming to make history as the first woman to serve as President of Côte d’Ivoire.
