Kigorobya
Leaders in Kigorobya County are renewing their call to President Yoweri Museveni to fulfill his 2011 pledge of granting Kigorobya district status.
During the 2011 election campaigns, President Museveni assured residents of Kigorobya Town Council that the area would be elevated to a district a promise that sparked great excitement among the locals at the time. However, more than a decade later, Kigorobya is still not among the new districts approved by Cabinet.
Over the weekend, leaders and stakeholders gathered at Kigorobya Town Council headquarters to strategize on how to remind the President about his commitment.
James Mugenyi Mulindambura, the District Councilor representing Kiganja Subcounty, urged leaders to unite beyond political affiliations to achieve their goal. He noted that creating a district would help address youth unemployment in the area.

Kigorobya County MP Hon. David Karubanga also backed the demand, saying the campaign for district status started before his tenure but deserved support since Kigorobya meets the required standards including population and revenue base.

Meanwhile, Evarce Kyalisiima, the District Female Councilor for Kigorobya Town Council and Kiganja Sub County, decried unequal service delivery, saying Bugahya County has consistently taken the lion’s share of resources in Hoima District.
