KIKUUBE – The Kikuube District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, has revealed that the district security committee is investigating a wave of suspected illegal land titles allegedly issued to land grabbers in several parts of the district.
Speaking to Biiso FM on Thursday morning, Kasigwa said the investigations follow complaints from residents in areas such as Musaijamukuru Village in Buhimba Sub-county, and parts of Kyangwali and Bugambe, where individuals are claiming ownership of community land using fraudulent land titles.
According to the RDC, preliminary findings indicate that some of the titles were obtained through irregular processes at district and national land offices, with the help of unscrupulous officials.
“We are following up on every suspicious title. Any land title found to have been acquired fraudulently will be cancelled through proper legal procedures. We shall not allow anyone to use forged documents to dispossess locals of their land,” Kasigwa emphasized.
He further warned individuals holding such illegal titles against attempting to evict residents, saying security agencies are on high alert and will arrest anyone found violating land ownership rights.

Kasigwa urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that no one will be evicted without due process of the law.
Meanwhile, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to issuing free land titles to bonafide landowners across Uganda under the Systematic Land Registration Program led by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
The initiative, already underway in parts of Western and Central Uganda, aims to help genuine landowners formalize their ownership, protect them from land grabbers, and promote land security and investment.
“Government wants every Ugandan to have a land title that legally secures their property. This will eliminate cases of fraud and land grabbing, especially in rural areas,” Kasigwa added.
The RDC appealed to residents to cooperate with survey and land officials when the exercise begins in Kikuube, noting that the program will prioritize customary landowners and vulnerable communities.
The investigations into the suspected illegal titles are ongoing, and reports from the district land office are expected to be released soon.
