The Kikuube District Security Committee has resolved to conduct regular patrols on Lake Albert to curb insecurity and protect Ugandan fishermen from attacks by Congolese armed men.
Resident District Commissioner Godwin Angalia Kasigwa said the patrols aim to reduce theft of fishing gear and cash from Ugandan fishermen.

He noted that security agencies will maintain presence on the lake until all criminal acts are eliminated and that engagement with the Congo government is underway to find a lasting solution.
