BULIISA, September 30, 2025 — In a groundbreaking move aimed at boosting local livelihoods and promoting nutritional health within the oil and gas camps, ALLIAD Company has officially announced the launch of a Weekly Open Market Day for local farmers in Buliisa District.
The initiative, which will kick off on Friday, 3rd October 2025, will take place every Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Buliisa District Headquarters. It provides a dedicated platform for strictly local farmers to supply fresh fruits and vegetables directly to ALLIAD’s catering services for oil and gas camps operating in the region.
“Empowering the community is part of our core mission.”
Speaking to our reporter, Owen Kiiza, the Community Liaison Officer for ALLIAD, emphasized the importance of the initiative in strengthening the local agricultural economy and ensuring a sustainable food supply chain.
“This is not just about buying fruits and vegetables,” Kiiza said. “It’s about empowering local farmers, creating a reliable income source for them, and integrating community development into our operational strategy. The oil and gas industry should be a benefit to everyone — not just those in the camps, but the wider community as well.”
Kiiza added that the procurement of produce will be based on three key principles: nutritional value, local availability, and camp consumption needs.

The market will prioritize a wide range of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (FFVs) categorized into five major types:
