As provided for under the article 90 of the Republic of Uganda, the members of parliament are mandated to carry out oversight of all government programs in their constituencies.

The speaker of parliament Anita Among earlier this month sent legislators to their constituencies for a 20 day period to monitor government programs in their respective districts.

The honorable members of parliament are expected to report back to the august house on 28th of this month.

On the same note today, The woman member of Parliament for Buliisa district, Hon. Norah Nyendwoha Bigirwa has braved expectant mothers to always go for antenatal and always deliver from the health facilities.

Hon. Bigirwa made a call while she was addressing people at Ngwedo seed school during the district monitoring to ascertain the progress of government programs like Parish Development Model and EMYOOGA.

During the monitoring exercise, the Buliisa Members of Parliament discovered that some people where selling PDM application forms at five thousand Ugandan shillings each and the beneficiaries had excessive complaints on how they were being undervalued for allocation of PDM funds.

Relatedly, Hon Atugonza Allan the Member of Parliament for Buliisa county, threw down the gauntlet and urged local leaders to always mobilize people to respond to government programs since they are aimed at invigorating their livelihood.

On the same note, the members of Parliament together with other district leaders launched a 5.6-kilometer road works under rehabilitation for Kilyango, Mubako community access road which is to cost one hundred thirty-seven million Ugandan shillings funded by the Ministry of Works and Transport.

While launching the road the Resident District Commisioner ,Buliisa district Mr. Longino Byagagaire asked the community members to monitor the road works, avoid acts of fuel siphoning with grader operators since the project is meant to benefit the people of Kalyango and  Mubako.

The RDC in addition queried district leaders to always ensure that there is value for money while executing government projects.
