Three youths in Buliisa District are facing legal trouble after allegedly presenting forged academic documents during a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment exercise.

According to UPDF Public Communication Officer Captain Wilson Kato Agaba, the suspects were among 23 candidates who turned up at the Buliisa District Headquarters on Thursday for the recruitment drive.

The individuals identified as Hillary Wamani, Bumali Wairagala, and Patrick Tabiruka were immediately handed over to police for further investigation.

Captain Agaba emphasized the army’s zero  tolerance policy on fraud, warning that such actions not only undermine the integrity of the recruitment process but also pose a threat to national security.

When reached for comment, Buliisa District Police Commander SP Michael Tayebwa confirmed that the suspects and their forged documents have been transferred to Kampala for professional handling by specialized units.

“The cases are now being processed in Kampala,” SP Tayebwa stated.

The UPDF continues to encourage transparency and honesty among applicants, urging all youth to present genuine credentials during recruitment exercises.
