The Catholic Diocese of Hoima has celebrated the ordination of 14 new priests and 9 deacons, including both diocesan and missionary clergy. The ceremony took place on Sunday at the Lady of Lords Hoima Cathedral.
During the ordination Mass, Bishop Vincent Kirabo urged the newly ordained priests to serve as ambassadors of peace and to lead by example. He emphasized that true pastoral leadership is about serving others, not seeking to be served, and encouraged them to remain steadfast in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Among those ordained was Alfred Okwir Amooti from St. Mary’s Biiso Catholic Parish. He held his thanksgiving Mass on Monday at his family home in Kahemura Cell, Biiso Town Council. In his message of appreciation, Rev. Fr. Okwir thanked his parents, fellow priests, and all who supported him during his pastoral formation.
The thanksgiving function drew thousands of Christians from Biiso Parish and neighboring areas, including visitors from the Neebi Catholic Diocese, reflecting the deep communal support and joy surrounding this milestone.
