A vibrant wave of yellow swept through the streets of Kololo today, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, as thousands of passionate supporters of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) gathered in anticipation of the party’s annual Delegates’ Conference. The streets, historically a hub for Uganda’s major political and state events, were transformed into a sea of yellow, the official color of the ruling party.
Supporters, dressed in yellow T-shirts and waving party flags, filled every corner of Kololo. Chants, slogans, and banners adorned the streets, creating an electrifying atmosphere that showcased both political pride and loyalty to the NRM. The crowd included a diverse mix of youth, elders, and seasoned mobilizers, all united under the party’s vision as Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections.
“This is more than just a celebration; it’s a clear message that the NRM is alive, strong, and ready to lead Uganda forward,” said a senior party insider involved in organizing the conference. “The energy here in Kololo is a strong signal that our grassroots supporters remain deeply connected to the party and its mission.”
The Delegates’ Conference has brought together thousands of NRM leaders and representatives from across Uganda. The gathering serves as a crucial platform for reviewing the party’s strategic plans, focusing on areas such as grassroots mobilization, youth engagement, selection of flag bearers, and preparations for key electoral milestones ahead of the February 2026 elections.
According to party sources, unity within the NRM is stronger than in recent years. “The yellow wave in Kololo is just the beginning,” the insider added. “People believe in the NRM system and want their voices heard as we prepare to shape Uganda’s future.”
Kololo’s historic significance as a venue for political rallies and state functions adds symbolic weight to the display of support. The vibrant crowd sends a powerful message not only to Ugandans but also to political rivals: the NRM’s base is energized, organized, and ready for the next electoral challenge.
Supporters praised the party’s achievements, particularly under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, crediting the NRM for decades of peace, development, and opportunities. “NRM is not just a party; it’s who we are. It has given us peace, development, and opportunity. I’m here to stand with my party and prepare for what’s next,” said Sarah Nansubuga, a youth leader from Wakiso.
As the Delegates’ Conference continues, the atmosphere in Kololo remains one of renewed loyalty, optimism, and unity, with the NRM aiming to emerge stronger, more focused, and ready to tackle the challenges of 2026 while continuing to shape Uganda’s national agenda.
