The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has directed all Heads of Centres, District, City, and Municipal Inspectors of Schools to publicly display the 2025 candidates’ registers for verification.
In a statement released on Monday, August 18, 2025, UNEB Executive Director Dan N. Odongo said the registers must be displayed between August 10th and October 10th, 2025.
“The candidates’ registers should be displayed in a conspicuous place at the school or examination centre where the candidates are registered, as well as at the respective district headquarters,” Odongo emphasized.
He urged parents whose children study in schools without UNEB centre status to double-check that their learners are duly registered to avoid last-minute surprises.
“If a student who has proof of payment of registration fees is not registered, the parent should contact the school, and if they are not helped, they should report to UNEB immediately for further action,” Odongo advised.
To make the process easier, UNEB has introduced a mobile SMS service. Parents and candidates can confirm registration by sending the full index number to 6600.
Odongo further stressed the need for vigilance in reviewing the registers to ensure accuracy of candidates’ details, including the correct spelling and order of names, date of birth, gender, photographs, and subjects registered.
“Where there is a discrepancy in the bio-data or photograph of a candidate, the centre should formally communicate to UNEB for correction within the stipulated period,” he added.
With the national examinations approaching, UNEB is urging all stakeholders parents, candidates, heads of centres, teachers, and inspectors to take prompt action to avoid errors and misunderstandings.
According to UNEB, 1,415,857 candidates have been registered to sit for the 2025 national examinations across all levels.
