Rapper Sean Kingston, best known for his 2007 hit Beautiful Girls, has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a million-dollar fraud case.
Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was convicted earlier this year alongside his mother, Janice Turner, in a wire fraud scheme that scammed victims out of more than $1 million. The duo tricked people into handing over luxury goods including watches, furniture, a 232-inch LED TV, and a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade by sending them fake wire transfer receipts instead of real payments.
Prosecutors said Kingston used his celebrity status to lure victims, often promising to promote their products on social media or connect them with other celebrities.
His mother was sentenced in July to five years in prison.
The Jamaican-American star apologised before sentencing, telling the court he had learned from his mistakes. But evidence presented at trial included text messages where Kingston told his mother to create fake payment receipts.
Kingston was arrested in California in 2024, shortly before a scheduled performance, after police raided his Florida mansion where his mother was also taken into custody.
The singer, also known for hits like Fire Burning, Take You There, and Eenie Meenie with Justin Bieber, will begin serving his sentence immediately.
