Buliisa, Uganda – August 11, 2025
Buliisa County Member of Parliament and NRM District Chairperson, Hon. Allan Atugonza, has called for unity and peace among the people of Buliisa. He made the appeal while attending a burial ceremony in Nyamasoga B, Biiso Town Council earlier today.
Addressing mourners, Hon. Atugonza thanked the community for standing together in times of grief and expressed his appreciation for the continued support that gave him a strong mandate as the NRM flag bearer.
He emphasized the need for unity across the district, warning against the dangers of tribal politics. Citing examples from the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, he noted how such divisions have led to conflict and suffering.
“Let us not allow tribalism to divide us. We must work together for Buliisa to develop,” Hon. Atugonza said.
The MP also urged leaders to be transparent and communicate openly with the people, while calling for an end to political intimidation especially against those who supported opposing candidates.
Looking ahead to the upcoming NRM mayoral primaries scheduled for August 14, 2025, Hon. Atugonza appealed for peaceful elections and mutual respect among supporters.
“Everyone has the right to choose their leaders. Let’s maintain peace as we head into the NRM polls,” he added.
Hon. Atugonza concluded by thanking the mourners once again for their unity and support, describing it as a foundation for building a stronger and more united Buliisa.
