The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a series of appointments, transfers, and leave for its officers.
The Service says the changes are part of ongoing efforts to professionalise the service and improve operations across the country.
The changes were announced on Thursday by Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine.
”The Commissioner General of Prisons has made key appointments, transfers and granted leave to officers as part of the ongoing efforts to professionalize the Uganda Prisons Service and improve service delivery,” the statement by prisons reads.
Among the key appointments is SP Geoffrey Agona who has been named the new DPC for Kumi.
In total, 18 officers have received new appointments to various prisons nationwide.
The service also effected ten transfers, who will be moved to different prisons.
PO I Harriet Nabwire of Kabonera Prison has been given accumulated leave, while several other officers have been granted normal leave ranging from 60 to 90 days.
