Moments of betrayal and hardship require courage and unwavering faith in God, a Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) pastor has said.
“You need to remain courageous and continue trusting God even during tough situations,” said Pr. Obed Ruzindana of the SDA Church.
He noted that experiences of poverty, lack, and betrayal by colleagues often leave people feeling insecure and lonely. However, he emphasised that God remains the ultimate source of protection and security in such circumstances.
“The Lord provides security and protection to people who trust in Him,” the pastor continued.
Pr Ruzindana, who is also a Master Guide, was preaching as the officiating minister during the induction ceremony of Pathfinders and Adventurers at the SDA Church on Kikwite Hill in Hoima City.
He observed that many Christians today are facing serious challenges, including domestic violence, economic hardship, and depression—issues that have caused some to lose faith in Jesus Christ.
“These challenges make some believers fall from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he noted.
Pr Ruzindana based his sermon on Isaiah 8:5–11, where the Lord warns the prophet Isaiah not to follow the way of people consumed by fear of conspiracies and threats from neighbouring nations.
“Even when life’s challenges surround you and no one seems to come to your rescue, trust that the Lord is always there to help you fight your enemies, and you will emerge victorious,” he encouraged.
During the ceremony, more than 70 children aged 4–9 were inducted into new Adventurers Club classes, while children aged 10–15 were inducted into new Pathfinder Club classes. Seven individuals were baptised by Pr Mike Kyomuhendo, the District Pastor of the SDA Church Hoima at the climax of the induction.
Speaking to Kazi-njema News about the relevance of Adventurers and Pathfinder Clubs to Christianity, Pr Kyomuhendo said the clubs play a key role in nurturing God-fearing children.
“They are crucial ministries because they provide holistic, church-centred, and action-oriented programmes designed to nurture young people spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially,” he said.
The pastor added that the clubs also help retain young people in the church by mentoring them for service and fostering a personal, lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
