Kagadi
Local artists in Kagadi District have raised concerns over what they describe as the continued dominance of Kampala-based musicians during presidential events held in the Bunyoro sub-region.
Speaking during a meeting at Rock Country Inn in Kagadi Town Council, the artists said event organizers consistently prioritize Kampala performers for stage time and facilitation funds, leaving local talent sidelined despite their capability to promote regional culture.
This comes as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni prepares to launch his presidential campaigns in Western Uganda on November 24, 2025, reigniting calls for inclusion of Bunyoro artists.
Producer and musician Asiimwe Raise appealed to organizers of the upcoming campaigns to give local entertainers a fair chance to perform, lamenting the persistent preference for big-name artists from the capital.

Asiimwe said Bunyoro artists have long felt neglected, even during events hosted within their own region.
Meanwhile, Abigaba Elia, also known as MC Simple and chairperson of the Kagadi Musicians Team No Stress Movement SACCO, called on top government officials — including Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, and State Minister Fred Byamukama — to support local artists and help connect them to the Office of the President.

Several musicians at the meeting also complained that campaign facilitation funds and performance fees often go to a small group of Kampala artists, leaving Bunyoro entertainers without opportunities.
They appealed for financial support from the President to develop their music careers and strengthen the local entertainment industry.
