The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has officially unveiled a countrywide network of coordinators to lead campaign activities for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.
According to a statement from the PLU Secretariat, the deployment marks the beginning of an extensive grassroots mobilization drive aimed at consolidating support for President Museveni and strengthening the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) structures across the country.
Mr. Niwagira emphasized that the coordinators’ primary role will be to mobilize support, coordinate campaign activities, and bridge communication between PLU and NRM structures.
“PLU stands firmly behind the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” Niwagira said.
“These coordinators will strengthen our engagement at the grassroots level and ensure that every district, sub-region, and community is actively involved in the campaign process.”
The PLU Secretariat noted that the appointments were made based on loyalty, organizational capacity, and proven mobilization skills, adding that the coordinators will immediately begin sensitization and voter outreach programs in their respective areas.
The newly deployed team will also work closely with local NRM chairpersons, Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), and youth leaders to harmonize campaign strategies and ensure effective message delivery.
PLU officials said the structure is designed to ensure efficient communication flow from the regional level down to the village level, making it easier to coordinate campaign logistics and monitor progress.
“We are now fully deployed,” said a statement from the PLU Communications Desk.
“Our coordinators will take the message of stability, peace, and continuity to every corner of Uganda.”
The development is seen as a major step in PLU’s continued integration within the ruling NRM framework, positioning itself as one of the strongest mobilization arms in the coming election cycle.
