Parliament Speaker Anita Among has stopped COSASE from investigating businessman Hamis Kiggundu’s controversial Nakivubo Channel redevelopment, sparking sharp resistance from Kampala leaders.
The Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) had been set to grill Ham on Tuesday. But Chairperson Medard Lubega Sseggona told members he had received a directive from the Speaker transferring the probe to a select team under the Physical Infrastructure Committee.
The announcement came during a heated session where KCCA officials, including Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki, had appeared to defend the project.
