Buliisa, Uganda – August 11, 2025
Biiso Model Primary School has emerged the overall winner in the 2025 Buliisa District Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) Competitions, walking away with a UGX 2 million cheque and a full set of costumes.
The award was presented by the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) in partnership with TotalEnergies, in recognition of the school’s outstanding performance in promoting cultural heritage through MDD.
The competition, held last Friday at the Buliisa District Resource Center, featured six primary schools: Biiso Model, Butiaba, Ngwedo Farm, Bugana, Kisasya, and Uganda Martyrs Primary School.
District Sports Officer, Mr. Godfrey Muhumuza, praised the initiative by CCFU and TotalEnergies, saying the support enhances cultural education and encourages young learners to embrace their heritage.

He also confirmed that Biiso Model Primary will represent Buliisa at the regional MDD competitions set to take place in Kibale District on August 16, 2025.

Mr. Solomon Musasizi, Heritage Trust Program Manager at CCFU, said the organization is committed to supporting music in schools across Uganda because of its power to preserve and promote culture among the youth.

This year’s MDD competition was held under the theme: “Safe Learning Environment for Social Transformation.”
