There is relief among residents of Buliisa District after Buliisa Health Centre IV in Buliisa Town Council resumed theatre operations.
According to the facility in-charge, Dr. Peter Otim, the theatre had been nonfunctional for a long time due to lack of adequate equipment and theatre specialists.
Dr. Otim revealed in an interview with our reporter this evening that the theatre has now been fully restored with support from the Ministry of Health and the Buliisa District Local Government.
He noted that since the reopening of the theatre, three mothers have successfully undergone operations and are waiting to be discharged.

Dr. Otim appealed to expectant mothers to seek services at the facility instead of travelling long distances to Buliisa General Hospital or Hoima, which he said previously posed risks, especially for those using motorcycles.

One of the mothers, who preferred anonymity, said the reopening of the theatre will help reduce the high costs and risks of traveling to distant hospitals for surgical services.
