🇬🇭 Ghana Mourns: Victims of Military Helicopter Crash Flown to South Africa for Forensic Analysis

Ghana is reeling from the tragic loss of eight lives following Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. Among the deceased are two senior government ministers, whose passing has left a deep void in the nation’s leadership.

On Thursday evening, a private jet departed Kotoka International Airport in Accra, carrying the remains of the victims to South Africa for advanced forensic examination. The move marks a solemn chapter in the country’s efforts to understand the cause of the devastating accident.

President John Dramani Mahama addressed the nation with heartfelt emotion, describing the tragedy as a “deep personal loss.”

“I shared a close bond with many of those who died,” he said. “Our nation is grieving.”

The President paid tribute to the victims’ dedication to public service, calling them “some of our nation’s brightest minds.”

“Your loss is our loss—a loss of dedicated public servants, intellectuals, and individuals who tirelessly worked for a better Ghana,” he added. “That their final moments were spent in service is a testament to their unwavering commitment.”

The crash has sparked an outpouring of grief across the country, with tributes flooding in from citizens, colleagues, and leaders alike. As investigations into the cause of the crash continue, Ghana has entered a period of national mourning.

“This is a moment of shared heartbreak,” President Mahama said. “A time to reflect on the preciousness of life, the sacrifices of public service, and our gratitude for those who dedicate themselves to the well-being of our fellow citizens.”
