Police divers have after two days, recovered and retrieved the body of a 48-year-old Black British holidaymaker who drowned in River Nile on August 20, 2022, reveals the West Nile Region Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Josephine Angucia.
Robert Kaweesi, a Muganda by tribe who has been residing in Birmingham on Devon Road, UK, drowned in the river as he attempted to save his 12-year-old son from being swept away by the strong waves of the waters of the River Nile as they swam in the river. His son was however, rescued by swimmers.
On the fateful day, the family of six and a driver had checked into Gipir and Labong Lodge on the bank of the Nile River where the deceased had gone for honeymoon with his wife, Ms Justine Katantazi, who he had wedded on August 6, 2022, according to a close family source.
The family source added that the family had been in the country on holiday for a month
ASP Angucia said Kaweesi’s body was taken to Pakwach Health Centre 4 with a team of police pathologists to conduct a forensic examination and later hand the body over to the family members for burial.
